Today we hear the Tale of the Martyr.
Martyr was a young Man.
At the Prime of his Youth, he used to be Surrounded by Friends and Foes alike. Friends wanted his Well-Being, while Foes wanted to Strike him Down.
He called these Friends and Foes, the People.
The Martyr was a Compassionate Man. He had a special Gift: to take People’s Suffering and Sorrow from them and Make that same Suffering and Sorrow his Own. Hence, he was always shedding Tears.
How could one cry Tears not meant to Oneself?
For the Martyr, it was a Necessary Evil. By doing this, he could Stop people from Suffering.
Yes, indeed. People were always Happy around Him. Everyone around him somehow got their Wishes realized, their Wildest Dreams come True.
People prospered around the Martyr. Everyone was happy.
But then the Martyr became to Wonder.
While he was Crying, he was Crying tears not meant for him. But what about his Tears? Did he ever find Joy in Suffering?
Heartless. Soulless.
One cold Night, he cried again.
This time however, it was Tears of his own. For the First Time…he was Suffering.
His own Tears of Sorrow.
What could have Happened? What did he do? Who did Hurt him? No one Knows.
The day After, the Martyr returned.
He was Broken. Battered. Hungry. One could Wonder how he was Standing Tall.
Darkness corrupted the Martyr’s Soul and Heart. Suffering too great made the Martyr a Dark Being.
And all the People he Helped…tried to Help him Back. He seized them all.
One by one, he Rejected and Renounced Light. He turned down every Good Offer they had.
Selfishness? No.
Although Corrupted, his mind was Focused.
He kept on Suffering and Crying Tears not meant for him. Indeed, his Gift took the Best of him. He was Uncontrollable.
But although still Crying, people began to Suffer and Cry.
Why?
He could not Realize that People cried at the Sight of what the Martyr has become.
They Prayed for him. They began pleading to the Heavens, to bring the Martyr back.
Unable to Understand why they would Cry and Suffer despite his Best Efforts, the Martyr’s mind bursted.
His Darkness was Shattered. The Heavens indeed answered to the People’s Call.
The Martyr was back. A radiant Heavenly Light surrounded him.
People began to Celebrate. All his Friends, his Family, they all were Happy to see the Martyr well.
The Martyr was no longer Crying. He gazed at the People, and he Smiled.
Thus he found Ultimate Joy. All that Darkness surrounding him was reduced to Naught, swallowed by the Benevolent Light. His wildest Dream came true: for the first time, he cried tears…of Joy.
However…
The day after the dreaded event, the Martyr did not wake up.
He was found Dead at his Home.
Although the Darkness was finally Purged and the Martyr finally Smiled, he Forgot to tend to his Health.
People cried his Death. His Funeral was a Terrible thing to Bear.
Time Passed, and People Suffered. But they learned that Suffering is a Necessary Evil. They overcame Suffering and Prospered even more.
And the Martyr died hoping this would Happen. It was his Final Sacrifice.
Indeed, he Died and was Buried…with a Smile on his Face…
